Brookline is a town in Norfolk County, Massachusetts, and is a part of Greater Boston. The northern part of Brookline is urban in character, as highly walkable and transit-rich with the MBTA’s Green Line D, and parts of the B, and C train running through it. The southern part of Brookline is typically characterized as suburban, with public transit consisting mainly of buses. The overall density of Brookline, which also includes suburban districts and grand estates in the southern part of the town, is still higher than that of many of the largest cities in the United States. Brookline’s public schools are consistently ranked among the top in the country with a student body from more than 50 different countries. The system includes one early learning center, eight grades K-8 schools (Baker School, Devotion, Driscoll, Heath, Lawrence, Lincoln, Pierce, and Runkle), and one comprehensive high school.
